10 Wrestlers Who Refused Huge Matches

Towards the back end of 2019, various WWE stars were beginning to think about what the upcoming WrestleMania 36 card would have in store for them. With, at that point, the prospect of performing in front of 70,000 strong, it's fair to say that Randy Orton in particular had his eyes on something special at the then-latest Showcase of the Immortals.

Knowing none other than The Rock would be present for the debut edition of Friday Night SmackDown on FOX in early October, Orton felt this was the perfect time to shoot his shot. Tweeting out that the pair should settle who the greatest third generation wrestler is once and for all at 'Mania 36, it was soon clear 'The Great One' had already had enough of 'The Viper'.

Referencing the fact they'd already crossing paths at 'Mania XX and that their families didn't run for as long as they did just to see 'Rocky' get RKO'd into oblivion in front of a sell-out crowd, the lack of substantial follow-up from the Hollywood megastar spoke volumes.

As far as consolation prizes go, facing a returning Edge, albeit in front of a crowd of zero, wasn't the worst second choice, though.
